Revelation 4:1 illustrates Jehovah God saying to the Apostle John, "Come up here and I will show you things which must take place after this." John first notices as he observes the Throne of God is that God is not alone. Revelation 4:4 says, "Around the Throne were twenty-four Thrones and on the Thrones I saw twenty-four Elders sitting, clothed in white robes and they had crowns of gold on their heads."
Who are these Elders sitting around the Throne of God? Some believe they represent the church while others believe they represent the twelve tribes of Israel and the twelve Apostles of the church. There are still others who believe they are ministering angels.
John continues describing what he is observing before the Throne of God in Revelation 4:5 which says, "And from the Throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings and voices. And there were seven lamps of fire burning before the Throne which are the seven Spirits of God." Please notice the lightnings and thunderings around God's Throne are the same Moses experienced as he approached Mt. Sinai illustrating the might and power of God.
John also sees "Seven Lamps of Fire" representing the seven Spirits of God who is The Holy Spirit. These Spirits are mentioned in Isaiah 11:2 as follows:
Rest . . Wisdom . . Understanding . . Counsel . . Might . . Knowledge . . Fear Of The Lord
The last four verses of Revelation 4 describe John seeing four Living Creatures that look like a lion, a calf, a man and a flying eagle. These four living creatures do not rest but proclaim day and night:
"Holy, Holy, Holy
Lord God Almighty
Who Was And Is To Come"
We, who know Jesus as our Lord and Savior, will also spend a major portion of our time worshiping before the Throne of God similar to the twenty-four Elders and the four creatures as illustrated in Revelation 4.
Hallelujah . . . Hallelujah . . . Hallelujah . . . Hallelujah!
Blessings,
Frank
