Jesus, The Revelator

Revelation 12:1,2,4,5 says, "Now a great sign appeared in Heaven: A woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and on her head a garland of twelve stars. Then being with child, cried out in labor and in pain to give birth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born. And she bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and to His throne."

Chapter 12 of Revelation is entitled "The Woman" and this woman bore a male child as mentioned in verse 5. The goal of this message is to identify The Woman and The Male Child. We will determine whether the woman is Mary the mother of Jesus or Israel and who is the Male Child?

Please notice in verse 1 on the head of the Woman was a garland of 12 stars. When we study the description of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, this type of description never comes forth. Also, could the 12 stars have a connection to the Twelve Tribes Of Israel?

Revelation 12:2 says, "Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth." There is not a description of Mary giving birth to Jesus in pain. However, the Birth Of Israel resulted in tremendous pain. The day that Israel was birthed in May of 1948 the country was physically attacked by many of the Arab countries on their border. Israel has fought numerous wars and has been victorious each time. Currently, terrorist attacks are almost a daily occurrence and rockets are fired out of Gaza regularly.

As a result, there is no question that the Woman is Israel and not the Mother of Jesus. Who is the Male Child? Again, there should be no question because the Male Child is Jesus! How did Israel give birth to Jesus? HE WAS BORN IN BETHLEHEM!

In closing, Revelation 12:6 says, "Then the Woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God." Israel, during The Battle Of Armageddon will flee to Petra for safety. Revelation 12 is challenging to understand, we trust this study was helpful.

Blessings,
