The Jewish Messiah - Part Three

Our first two messages in this series identifying Jesus as the Jewish Messiah have centered on the birth of Jesus and His functioning as an observant Jewish man. We now focus on the God given anointing on His life.

What is an anointing? It is best described as an assignment or purpose for a person's life given directly from God Almighty. Isaiah 61 describes the anointing on Jesus' life and how it is for all people of the earth including God's Chosen People.

Isaiah 61:1 says, "The Spirit of The Lord God is upon Me." How and when was Jesus anointed by Jehovah God? The baptism of Jesus describes the Spirit of God descending upon Him like a dove. (Matthew 3:16) Jesus was empowered by The Holy Spirit of God to fulfill His anointing.

Isaiah 61 illustrates how Jesus fulfilled His anointing for all people and specifically how He fulfills it for the Jewish People. For example, Isaiah 61:1 says, "The Spirit of The Lord God is upon Me, because The Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captive and the opening of the prisons to those who are bound." Notice how this verse illustrates Jesus taking care of all the people of the world and their specific needs. Bless His Holy Name!

Then Isaiah 61:3 shows Jesus taking care of God's Chosen People, "To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness." Jesus Is The Jewish Messiah!

Lastly, Jesus proves He is The Jewish Messiah by establishing a new everlasting Covenant with them. Hebrews 10:8-10 shows Jesus saying, "Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God." "He takes away the first that He may establish the second. By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all." Jesus through His death and resurrection established a path to salvation and forgiveness of sins for all people including the Jewish People. Hallelujah!

Next week we will look at the prophtic messages describing Jesus as a King in the lineage of King David. Stay Tuned!

May The Lord Bless You And Keep You This Day And Every Day,
Frank
